Our Lady of Fatima Youth Ministry focuses on the spiritual, social, and service development in a teen's life. Our purpose is to grow in our Catholic faith and spiritual life while deepening a personal relationship with Christ, developing friendships and community relationships, and contributing to our community through the various social service opportunities. OLF’s Confirmation journey for high school students, is a minimum two-year process. Teens are welcome to begin their Confirmation process in their freshman year. However, we also have several candidates in their junior and senior years.
Each year, Confirmation candidates are required to attend a total of 13 classes between September and May. Classes consist of faith formation, doctrine, social enrichment, and personal reflection. Candidates will also participate in parish and diocesan events, service projects, retreats and regular attendance of Sunday Mass.
Parents play a primary role in their teen’s Confirmation process. Having baptized their children in faith they are challenged to model that faith to their teens so they can experience its value on a daily basis. It is expected for parents to attend weekly Mass with their teen.
Sponsors play a critical role in the Confirmation process as they provide insight, wisdom and encouragement to their candidates. Sponsors are required to be fully initiated Catholics active in their Catholic faith by attending weekly Mass, and living their faith in actions. Sponsors are to attend two scheduled Candidate/Sponsor events per year. (Check appropriate C1 or C2 calendar for dates.) It is important for Sponsors to be willing and available throughout the Candidate’s Confirmation process.
We are pleased to continue to utilize Matthew Kelly’s engaging Conformation Program, Decision Point, in our OLF Confirmation process. We encourage you to go online and look at the Dynamic Catholic website, www.DynamicCatholic.com. In the search area, type in Decision Point, from there you may review the program. While in the Dynamic Catholic website, browse around, and enjoy your visit.
We don’t like to think of the Confirmation process as another “requirement’ to add to the list of “things that must be done.” Rather, Confirmation is a continuing process on one’s faith journey toward His perfect light. Our faith journeys are life long, and the Confirmation process is simply a section of your faith journey. The primary requirement for one to be engaged in their Confirmation process is to:
